The average selling price of a home in West Clare rose by over €30,000 in the first month of the year.
The latest Residential Property Price Index shows there was a marked drop in housing transactions countywide.
The average price of a home in Clare fell just below €280,000 in January, showing a 5% reduction on the prices just before the turn of the new year.
The Shannon Eircode area was a major outlier here with prices dropping by almost €100,000 in the space of a month to €233,000 due to the number of housing transactions there falling from 12 to 2.
In the Ennis area, there were 26 homes sold, which was down 70% on December’s activity, however property prices showed little change.
The average price of a house there at the end of January came in at €349,500, a monthly jump of €10,000.
West Clare saw the greatest jump in costs, with the average selling price of a home shooting up to €257,000, representing a increase of €30,000.
Throughout January, 11 of the homes purchased in this county went to first-time buyers.
