One in Four says the Vatican is still not accepting responsibility for the purposeful cover-ups of clerical child sex abuse.
The support group says the findings of the Apostolic Visitation to Ireland fails to address the Holy See’s role in protecting abusive priests at the expense of children.
The Visitation team – appointed by Pope Benedict – says that while excellent efforts are being made to improve safety measures – more work is required.
It recommends devoting more time in listening to and supporting victims – while it says audits should be carried out to monitor the implementation of guidelines.
