The Transport Minister has been urged to intervene in a row between Bus Eireann and it’s staff, to avert a strike which could seriously hit Clare students.
Staff at Bus Eireann are to be allotted over possible industrial action, after the company announced a cost-cutting plan which will see workers lose three days annual leave and face a reduction in allowances and expense payments.
Bus Eireann has been losing 11 million euro a year, and Minister Leo Varadkar says it won’t survive if workers don’t accept the plan.
Clare Fianna Fail TD Timmy Dooley has warned that second- and third-level students could be left stranded at a key time if a deal isn’t found.
