Contracts have been signed to allow for a 1.2 million euro extension to Raheen Community Hospital in Tuamgraney.
Work will begin on the new 375 square-metre extension later this month.

The works will bring the facility more in line with minimum standards laid out by HIQA, and come in light of reports that the health watchdog is operating a 'get tough' policy on public nursing homes.
