UL Hospitals Group Say Change In Overcrowding Figures Not Based On Optics

The UL Hospitals Group says changes which have led it to reporting fewer numbers of patients on trolleys in its Emergency Department is not based on ‘optics’ – but on patient care.

Concerns had been raised by nursing representatives after discrepancies between the INMO’s TrolleyWatch figures and the HSE’s own TrolleyGAR system were identified.

The Group says adjustments have been made for patients who are accommodated in cubicles while waiting for the results of a COVID-19 test.

Though some of those are technically on trolleys, they are not counted as part of the HSE’s TrolleyGAR statistics.
