Uisce Éireann claims its plans to pump water from the Clare-Tipperary border to the Greater Dublin area are completely safe and sustainable.
The controversial €6bn project would see 300million litres of the Parteen Basin’s annual water flow extracted and pumped 170km up the country annually.

The proposal has been met with staunch objections in Clare amid concerns for water tourism, and biodiversity, while Uisce Éireann claims its essential to ensure a water supply for the growing population of Dublin and the midlands.
Uisce Éireann’s Senior Programme Manager Gary Gibson insists they’ve examined all options thoroughly.
