The General Manager of Trump International Golf Links & Hotel Doonbeg says the US President will visit for the Irish Open “if it’s possible.”
Speculation has been mounting that Donald Trump will attend September’s Amgen Irish Open after US Ambassador Edward Walsh stated earlier this year that a potential Presidential visit was in store.
Amgen has been persistently stepping up preparations for the event and is due to take part in the Doonbeg St Patrick’s Day Parade on March 15th, for which Trump Doonbeg Boss Joe Russell has been named Grand Marshall.
Joe’s told Clare FM’s Morning Focus that President Trump could well visit in September as he’s a “golf fanatic.”
The St Patrick’s Day Parade, meanwhile, kicks off at 3.30pm on Sunday.
This year’s celebrations will involve marching bands, along with vintage tractor and car rally.
The theme for the 2026 edition is ‘Legends’, encouraging groups and participants to celebrate local heroes, sporting greats and figures from folklore.
Doonbeg Fianna Fáil Councillor Rita McInerney says there’s something on offer for everyone.
