Trolley Numbers Continue To Climb At Region’s Main Hospital

Nurses say the level of overcrowding at the regions main hospital is continuing to climb.

The latest analysis from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation shows there were 104 patients on trolleys or chairs at University Hospital Limerick this morning, the highest number recorded in the country once again.

Galway University Hospital was the second busiest in the country, where 65 people were waiting for beds.

Overall, close to 526 admitted patients were on trolleys at Irish hospitals today, according to the INMO figures, 310 of those in emergency departments and 216 in overflow areas of wards.
