Transport Minister Says Govt Acting Within Law When Allowing Military Planes Through Shannon

The Minister for Transport says the Government is acting within the law when it comes to allowing military planes to pass through Shannon Airport.

Darragh O’Brien was speaking at the unveiling of the Brian Boru Bridge on the Killaloe/Ballina border last evening, during which there was a contribution from an individual claiming the Minister was complicit in ongoing genocide in Gaza.

Former Minister for Transport, Eamon Ryan, brought a memo to cabinet last November proposing giving Irish agents of the state power to search aircraft suspecting of carrying weapons of war.

Minister O’Brien insists, however, the existing legislation is sufficient.
