Transatlantic Routes Key to Shannon’s Growth Says Aviation Chief

The Clare man heading up one of the world’s largest aerospace firms says securing more transatlantic routes will be key for Shannon Airport’s future growth.

Ennis-born John Slattery is the CEO of commercial aviation at Embraer, which is third only to Boeing and Airbus in producing planes worldwide.

In a keynote speech delivered at Shannon Chamber’s business lunch, he has called for a significant increase in women in the aviation sector, while he also says it’s vital to introduce children to STEM subjects at an earlier age.
