Officials from the Health Service Executive served this closure order against the secretary of Duesbury Ltd., trading as the Old Ground Hotel, on Thursday of this week.

They ordered the closure of kitchens, the Poet’s Corner bar and ancillary food areas at it’s O’Connell St. premises.

The hotel says an issue has been identified with part of it’s drainage system, following recent refurbishment works, and the decision to temporarily close the main kitchen was a precautionary one, taken in consultation with local health authorities.

In a statement to Clare FM, the Old Ground also says they are working in conjunction with authorities towards a speedy resolution.

The hotel says it’s accommodation and bar facilities are unaffected, that it is currently providing a limited food service from an alternative outlet, and has apologised to customers for any inconvenience caused.
