People in Clare are being encouraged to build-a-box online, to ensure the covid-19 pandemic doesn’t prevent children in less well off countries from opening a Christmas present this year.
Every year thousands of shoeboxes filled with gifts are received by Team Hope as part of their Christmas Shoebox Appeal and these are delivered to children in need, but difficulties posed by the pandemic has led to a change in how they’ll deliver the service this year.
For a donation of 20 euro, people can pick out a number of items on the Team Hope website that they’d like to include for children to wear, wash, write and wow with and personalise their box by uploading a picture or image.
Kathy Locke from Team Hope in Clare says the donations will allow their partners in Africa Eastern Europe to purchase items for shoeboxes, which will then be delivered directly into the hands of children.
