Taoiseach To Speak With Minister About Fast-Tracking Midwest Elective Hospital Proposal

The Taoiseach is to speak with the Health Minister about fast-tracking a proposal for an elective-only hospital in the MidWest.

This is despite Minister Stephen Donnelly only last week ruling out the possibility of developing such a facility.

In response to a parliamentary question from Labour TD Alan Kelly, Minister Donnelly reiterated his previous statement that ‘the Government decision is very clear on this’ and ‘no other locations are under active consideration’.

However, Taoiseach Mícheál Martin has told the Dáil this afternoon that an elective-only hospital is the route he wishes to pursue.
