Taoiseach Promises Penalty Points Will Be Put Right

The Taoiseach has vowed that the penalty points sytem 'will be put right', in the wake of recent controversies.

The review by the Garda Inspectorate will recommend that the power to quash penalty points is removed from local officers. 

It'll be formally published this afternoon after the 37 recommendations are accepted by Cabinet. 

In the Dáil this afternoon, the Taoiseach faced opposition calls to apologise to the Garda whistleblowers.
