It’s understood Fianna Fáil, which increased its representation in the local authority from 12 to 13 in the new-look council, wants two of its councillors to sit as Cathaoirleach and Leas Cathaoirleach.
Replacements for outgoing Mayor Councillor Michael Begley and Deputy Mayor Councillor Alan O’ Callaghan will be announced at Friday’s Council AGM.
