Irish Airspace has reopened to traffic after six days of disruption and the first stranded passengers to land here since last week finally touched down in Shannon last night.
However while virtually all restrictions in Ireland the UK have been lifted the Irish Aviation Authority is warning it could take several days for flights to recover.
Aer Lingus was the first to bring home the stranded abroad when a flight from Tenerife arrived in the Mid West last night.. and then over a thousand more passengers touched down about an hour later on five separate British Airways fights.
The three BA 7 7 7’s and two BA 747’s were en route from the US to London and after refueling its understood four resumed their journey while 250 passengers on the fifth were put up at the Clare Inn overnight and will continue their flight today.
The Aer Lingus flight from Tenerife had around a hundred passengers on board with the passengers saying they were delighted to be home.
