There’s been a spike in the level of overcrowding at the region’s main hospital today.

The latest INMO figures show 49 people were left waiting for beds at University Hospital Limerick this morning, 31 of those on trolleys in the emergency Department.

The overall figure is 4 more than the next busiest facility; Cork University Hospital and represents almost a quarter of all those waiting to be admitted at hospitals across the country.
