South East Clare Auctioneer Says State Needs To Take Greater Role In Building Affordable Housing

A South East Clare auctioneer believes the State needs to take a greater role in building affordable housing for first time buyers.

It’s after new CSO figures revealed 145 new dwellings were completed in this county between October and December – the highest in any three month period here for a decade.

The stats don’t reveal a breakdown of social housing builds and private houses, though Niall Gilligan believes the market has become too skewed towards local authority housing.

Speaking with Clare FM’s Josh Prenderville, the Sixmilebridge auctioneer says despite problems first time buyers face, current Central Bank lending rules should not change.
