A Sixmilebridge shop owner is calling for ‘special exemptions’ for small businesses to assist with soaring energy bills.
It’s after Crowe’s shop in the village, which employs more than 20 people, received an electricity bill for more than €20,000 over a two month period.

The Temporary Business Energy Support Scheme, announced in the Budget, will allow firms to claim up to 40 percent of the increase in energy costs up to €10,000 per month.
However, Flora Crowe of Crowe’s shop says positive discrimination in the scheme is needed for those who operate on tighter margins.
