Burren Animal Rescue has expressed shock at the high number of healthy horses put down after being seized in Clare.
140 horses were seized in he county in the past four years – of these, 127 were euthanised and none were re-homed.

The figures do not specify what happened to the other 13.
Clare is one of only two counties where no horses were re-homed during that timeframe and Sheena Twist of Burren Animal Rescue says it’s crazy to think such numbers are being put to sleep:
