A Shannon woman says it means everything to represent her home town in the Miss World pageant this weekend.
20-year-old Karly Slattery will take her place in the 77th iteration of the competition this Saturday in the Knightsbrook Hotel in Trim, Co. Meath, with the winner going on to represent Ireland in the Miss World competition.

As part of the pageant the contestants undertake a charity project under the ‘Beauty with a Purpose’ award, with Karly’s initiative supporting those suffering with childhood grief.
She says its a topic that is very close to her heart.
