Shannon Authorities Plan To Make Airport Top Destination For Equine Transportation

Authorities at Shannon Airport are planning to make it one of the top destination for equine transportation in the world.  

Six thoroughbred mares were recently brought to a leading Irish stud in the south of the country, in what was also the first scheduled transportation of horses into Shannon with Turkish Airlines Cargo.

It's now hoped to increase the number of such flights in an effort to capitalise on the lucrative equine industry both in Ireland and worldwide. 

Shannon Group Strategy Director Patrick Edmond says the airport's location leaves it in an ideal position to do so.
