A now jailed former company director, several publicans along with a grocer are among the Clare Tax defaulters included in latest tax settlement list released by the Revenue Commissioners.
It recouped over 200 thousand euro following several audits into the under declaration of income tax and several vat related issues.
In Revenue’s latest tax defaulter list which runs from July until September- the largest settlement in Clare was made by a Quin publican.
Claire Titley of the Monkswell Pub faced a final bill of 97 thousand euro, including 26 thousand in interest and 23 thousand in penalties after under declaring vat and income tax to the tune of 47 thousand euro.
The second largest settlement was made by publicans/restaurateurs -Finure Ltd which operates on Fisher Street in Doolin – They had to pay out 70 thousand euro – including 3 thousand in interest and 15 thousand in penalties for the under declaration of VAT.
Grocer/ publican and filling station owner Martin Canney from Killanena/Caher made a settlement of over 33 thousand euro for under declaring income tax and vat ..
The list also includes now imprisoned former company director 53 year old Sean Harrtigan with an address in Carrigaholt who was jailed for three years for filling out filing fraudulent tax returns.
A further 7 thousand plus euro was clawed by Revenue from three separate individuals in West and South East Clare for failing to lodge vat returns.
