An appeal for food, clothing, medical supplies and other essential items was made in Clare in recent weeks as part of a larger national effort to help suffering migrants at the French port and donations from across the county were collected.

A convoy is leaving Ennis around now en route to Rosslare, where they will meet 60 other volunteers from across the country.

Co-ordinator of Clare to Calais Róisín Garvey has been telling Clare FM that conditions there are worse than expected.
