Separate Garda investigations have been launched into a string of burglaries across South East Clare over the past week.
Seven homes were targeted by criminals in the Tulla, Killaloe, Sixmilebridge and Newmarket on Fergus areas on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
Six of the incidents happened overnight or in the early hours of the morning, with one incident during daylight hours, while in four cases, car keys were taken and the vehicle parked outside was taken.
Sergeant Edel Burke, from the Crime Prevention Office has the following crime prevention advice for householders.
“Lock all doors and windows, as most burglaries occur through unlocked rear and front doors and use a timer switch for your lights, as this creates the illusion you’re home.
“Keep car and house keys away from windows and letterboxes, ask yourself where do you now keep your keys and is there a better place to store them out of sight?
“Record your valuables. Have an inventory of high value items so that we can return property to you that we might recover.
“Check your alarm is working turn it on and never hide spare keys under front mats or pots.
“Ring your local garda station if you are going on holidays and we will be able to patrol the area.
” Keep a look out for neighbours especially elderly and ring your local station if you see anything suspicious or unusual callers in the area and note down any registration plates of cars that are unusual in your area,” Sergeant Burke concluded.
