The Environment Minister is coming under fire today – after it emerged he held a meeting with the disgraced politician Michael Lowry, just days after the publication of the Moriarty Tribunal report.

A spokesperson for Phil Hogan says the meeting was about farm waste and was scheduled sometime before the findings of the Tribunal were released.

However, the Arts Minister, Jimmy Deenihan, and the Social Protection Minister, Joan Burton, say they would have preferred if this meeting had not taken place.

But Minister Burton stopped short of calling on Minister Hogan to clarify exactly what was discussed in this meeting.
