Road Reopened Following Road Traffic Collision on N68

The road has reopened following a road traffic collision on the N68.

Emergency services have dealt with a road traffic collision in the county this afternoon.

The two-car crash occurred at around 1.40pm on the main N68 Ennis to Kilrush road at Darragh, a location repeatedly highlighted by locals as an accident black spot.

National Ambulance Service paramedics; units of Clare County Fire and Rescue Service from Ennis station and Gardaí responded to the scene.

Fire service personnel established an emergency traffic management system and were able to keep traffic moving. Motorists were directed through the forecourt of a local garage as part of the traffic plan.

It’s understood that there were three people and a dog in one vehicle and two others travelling in the second car. The occupants of both cars were assessed at the scene by paramedics. One person was further assessed and treated in an ambulance but didn’t require hospitalisation.

The road was fully reopened at 3.30pm once both vehicles had been recovered from the scene and the roadway cleared of debris.
