Revenue Says Multi-Million Euro Liscannor Drugs Find A First In Ireland

Revenue says a multi-million euro drugs find in Clare is the first of it's kind in Ireland.

Custom officers seized approximately 75 kilograms of cocaine, concealed in what's described as a"torpedo type" device on the shore near Liscannor yesterday.

It's believed the device may have been may have been attached below the waterline of a cargo ship or other maritime vessel.

Maritime Operations Manager, Andrew Ryan says it's not possible at this stage to say where the drugs originated, or their intended destination but that they don't believe it was destined for Ireland.

He says Revenue routinely targets vessels with regard to this type of concealment with support from the Irish Naval Service.
