Clare County Council is to carry out works to remove or repair over 500 damaged trees at Ballybeg Woodland in Ennis.
The 25-hectare woodland, which is popular amongst locals and the wider community, was planted in the late 1950s and is adjacent to a Special Area of Conservation which is seen as key for the Lesser Horseshow Bat.

As a result, the woodland will be closed to the public from August 31st to September 11th.
