One of the keynote speaker’s for Clare’s International Women’s Day celebrations says society and public systems still have lengths to go to properly respect and integrate minorities.
Traveller Poet Helen Hutchinson, is a founding member of Pavee Point, which since 1985 has been promoting traveller and Roma rights in Ireland and will be addressing the Buttermarket Building in Drumbiggle from 2pm tomorrow as part of a series of events.
Currently the rate of suicide among the traveller community is seven times above the national average and Helen has used her poetry to recount her personal stories of loss and discrimination.
Helen’s told Clare FM’s Morning Focus that no one has the right to judge any group of people.
