In partnership with Bus Éireann and TFI Local Link Limerick Clare, the National Transport Authority has put forward a proposed overhaul of the public transport links between, Ennis, Shannon, Limerick and Clare’s hinterlands.

The proposal involves splitting the current 343 service, which runs from Ennis to Limerick via Clarecastle, Newmarket-on-Fergus, Shannon and Bunratty with twice daily stop-offs in Sixmilebridge and Quin, into four separate routes.

The new 343 route operated by Bus Éireann will run every 20 minutes at peak times and every 30 minutes at other times, and will run all-day at the weekend.

It will go between Limerick and Shannon via Shannon Airport as a 24/7 service and will have buses every 60 minutes during the night.

The proposed 330 route will run from Ennis to Shannon Airport via Clarecastle, Newmarket-on-Fergus, Ballinoosky, Smithstown Industrial Estate, Shannon Town and Shannon Free Zone.

This new route, also operated by Bus Éireann, will run every 60 minutes all-day with extra buses at peak times.

The 316 service will link Sixmilebridge to Shannon Airport with stops at Smithstown Industrial Estate, Shannon Town and Shannon Free Zone; running every two hours with extra buses at peak times from Monday to Friday.

The 317 service meanwhile, which TFI Local Link will operate and run three times a day, will connect Ennis to to Jetland Shopping Centre in Limerick via Quin, Kilmurry, Sixmilebridge and Cratloe.

Public consultation on the plans is currently open and will close at 4pm on Thursday May 9th.
