Protest To Take Place At Ennis Hospital Today Over HSE Recruitment Freeze

A protest is underway at Ennis General Hospital this lunchtime against the HSE’s recruitment freeze.

HSE CEO Bernard Gloster extended the embargo across all departments with immediate effect last month, amid a warning the health service was on track to ‘unsustainably’ exceed its funded workforce target for 2023.

Only Consultants and Graduate Nurses and Midwives in approved training programmes are exempt from the move.

Today’s demonstration in Ennis involves Clerical and Administration Staff who cannot take up outstanding promotion offers as a result.
