Protest In Bunratty As Shannon Group Urged To Announce Decision On Heritage Sites

Traders and tourism operators have staged a demonstration in Bunratty today calling for a decision to be made on the future operation of Clares’ heritage sites.

Shannon Group has made a submission seeking up to €4 million in financial assistance from the state to keep some sites open.

Under current plans, Bunratty Castle and Folk Park and King John’s Castle in Limerick are both due to close by the end of August, while Cragganouwen and Knappogue and Dungauire castles have remained closed.
