An Post Shoots Down Attempt To Save Doonbeg Post Office

An Post has shot down an attempt to save the local Post Office in Doonbeg.

Local businesswoman Rita McInerney, who is a Clare Fianna Fáil candidate in the next general election, wrote to the organisation proposing that they move the services to an existing business in the village, which they have declined.

In a letter seen by Clare FM, An Post has pointed to factors including population size and proximity to other nearby branches as being behind the decision.

Doonbeg was one of six services in Clare to be closed during the reconfiguration of services by An Post, though Cooraclare has since been saved.
