Clare Councillors who had demanded that a safety audit be carried out on a portion of the M18 which they had described as dangerous, have welcomed the NRA's announcement that it's to carry out extensive repairs.

The Northbound carraigeway between Barefield and Crusheen is to close on Monday morning, and remain closed until Friday to allow for drainage to be assessed and improved. The Southbound bore will not be affected.
It comes after Councillors and Gardai expressed concerns at last week's meeting of the Clare Joint Policing Committee.
