A Clare Government TD believes widening tax bands would be a better idea than bringing in a 30 percent tax rate in the Budget.
The middle band was discussed in last week’s Tax Strategy Group papers having been suggested by Tanaiste Leo Varadkar, and would see the rate covering income of between €36,800 and €46,800.
However, it’s been warned the move wouldn’t be equitable to lower income workers.
