A new full-time intellectual disability respite centre could soon be coming to Shannon.
Corlann, formerly known as the Brothers of Charity has applied to develop a facility at Gleann-na-Smól that would operate seven days a week and would provide care for three adults per night.

Previously the service only had HSE funding to provide two days of respite per week , but has received funding to expand its offering.
Shannon Fine Gael Councillor Tony Mulcahy says it would make a huge difference for families in the locality.
