A mother and father who’ve raised over €35,000 for children’s cancer services in memory of their late daughter have been named Clare FM’s Local Heroes for 2026.
Five year-old Mia Flanagan passed away in February following a bravely fought battle with Leukaemia.

Her father Ronan subsequently embarked on a 230km walk from Ennis to the Children’s Hospital in Crumlin to raise funds for Aoibheann’s Pink Tie, Childhood Cancer Ireland and Ronald McDonald House.
Mia’s Mother Ruth says completing the trek was a bittersweet moment.
