Overcrowding Eases At Region’s Main Hospital

The level of overcrowding at the region’s main hospital has eased today.

The latest INMO figures show 23 patients were left waiting for beds at University Hospital Limerick this morning, 12 of those in the Emergency Department.

The overall figures is 7 fewer than the busiest hospital in the country.

It comes as the UL Hospitals Group has urged people not to attend the ED at Dooradoyle apart from emergency cases, due to high numbers attending this week.

They’re urging people to contact their GP in the first instance and to utilise the Injuries Unit at Ennis General, where possible.
