More than 61 million euro will also be allocated towards enhancements at University Hospital Limerick.

The HSE has allocated just over €3.6m for a major upgrade of the county hospital.

The enhancements will involve a new surgical theatre block, with two theatres, recovery bays, accommodation a Central Sterile Services Department and a new ward block with 48 beds.

The project is currently at design feasibility stage.

A further €1.1m will go towards the replacement of the Community Nursing Unit at St Joseph’s Hospital, which will see the introduction of new long and short stay beds.

The Dual Diagnosis facility at Inis Ghile in Parteen is next on the list and will receive over €849,000 for the refurbishment of the existing vacant community nursing unit, which the HSE says has been completed.

Just over €446,400 has been made available to replace the existing residential facilities at Bushypark Treatment Addiction Centre in Ennis, with that project currently under construction.

A further €56,140 has been granted for an extension of Scariff Health Centre, with €50,000 going towards Fire Safety Upgrades at St Senan’s Nursing Home.

There will also be €61.5 million made available for enhancements at University Hospital Limerick, most of which relates to building the second new 96 bed block, while €1.9 million has been allocated to University Maternity Hospital Limerick.
