Clare County Council granted planning permission for over 220 homes in the first three months of this year.
The Central Statistics Office has revealed the first quarter of 2026 saw the sixth-highest number of houses approved in Clare in a single three-month period since records began.
A total of 70 planning permissions were granted in Clare from the beginning of January to the end of March this year.
Of these, 59 were for houses, comprising 53 one-off developments and six multi-unit projects, while 11 were for apartment complexes.
This means 171 houses and 53 apartments, totalling 224 homes, were given the green light in the three-month stretch.
The average floor area of a house granted approval in Clare during this period was just shy of 142 square metres – the 9th lowest nationwide.
Across the three months, 28,000 square metres was the total floor area for which planning permissions were granted here.
