Over 1,000 additional families in Clare are now eligible for the fuel allowance.
The Minister for Social Protection has confirmed that 50,000 extra households can now avail of the €38 weekly payment which runs from September to April and will be backdated to January for new recipients.

The allowance has been extended to anyone currently eligible for the Working Family Payment, meaning an additional 1,034 Clare families can now access it.
President of the Clare branch of Saint Vincent De Paul Denis Carty has welcomed the measure but believes it falls short of what’s required.
