Over 100 Clare adults were recorded as homeless in August.
The Department of Housing’s latest monthly report shows a record high number of people are living in emergency accommodation across the country.
Approximately 103 Adults in Clare were documented as homeless last month, up 31% from August 2025.
Across the MidWest, which the Department considers Clare and Limerick, the change is even more stark, with the number of Adults in emergency accommodation rising 35% from 601 to 807 in just twelve months.
Of the homeless adults in the MidWest 554 are noted as Irish Citizens, 155 are from the European Economic Area (EU Countries + Norway, Iceland , Liechtenstein) and a further 98 are from outside the EEA.
There’s also been a surge in the number of homeless children across Clare and Limerick, rising from 250 to 423 in the space of a year.
The report also shows that between April and June, just one new tenancy was created for people exiting homelessness in the MidWest.
Nationally 17,885 people were registered as homeless last month, which is a new national record.
