One Person Airlifted To Hospital Following West Clare Road Crash

The main N67 Kilrush to Kilkee has been reopened, following a serious road traffic collision this morning.

One person has been airlifted from the scene, while three children have also been taken by ambulance to hospital for treatment.

Emergency services were alerted around 9.30 this morning, after a car and a van towing a trailer collided at the junction at Lisdeen Church.

National Ambulance Service paramedics and Gardaí responded to the incident, along with fire crews from Kilkee and Kilrush stations.

The Cork-based charity-funded Irish Community Air Ambulance was also dispatched to the scene.

The female driver of the car was later airlifted to University Hospital Limerick for treatment.

Three young children, who were travelling in the car, were assessed at the scene, before being removed to UHL by road ambulance.

It’s understood the driver of the van escaped injury.

A section of the N67 at Lisdeen has been closed to facilitate an examination of the scene by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, but is due to re-open later this afternoon.
