One Man Remains In Custody Following Stabbing In Kilrush

One man has been released and another is still being questioned following a stabbing incident in Kilrush.

A father-of-two in his 20s was taken to hospital after suffering two stab wounds in the incident on Henry Street at around 5.30pm yesterday evening.

It’s understood the incident occurred in the vicinity of two fast food outlets in the town. The street was closed while both premises were sealed off pending completion of a technical examination.

The victim has since been released from University Hospital Limerick and his injuries are not understood to be serious.

Gardaí arrested two men at the scene and detained them for questioning at Kilrush Garda Station.

One has since been released without charge while the second is still being interviewed.

His period of detention was extended for a further 12 hours at 1pm for more questioning.

Gardaí from Kilrush are investigating, and have appealed for witnesses to contact them. They are keen to speak to anyone who was in the Henry Street area of Kilrush at or around the time of the incident.
