A Clare community services provider that suffered a break-in last week says staff are “devastated” by the incident which they’ve branded as “unfair”.
Obair on the Ennis Road in Newmarket-on-Fergus was burgled in the early hours of last Wednesday morning, with the perpetrators absconding with approximately €600 in cash.
The service operates a Meals on Wheels service which caters to over 300 people five days a week, while the building also contains a creche, an afterschool and post-primary programme, remote working hubs, a youth café and an environmental section.
Siobhan Griffin, who works for Obair, says the burglary is particularly upsetting in the context of the positive work the organisation does in the community.
