Nurses Hit Out Over “Unacceptable” Numbers On Trolleys Or Chairs

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation has hit out over what it describes as unacceptable numbers of patients on trolleys, chairs and in other inappropriate bed spaces.

It comes as the union has recorded 660 admitted patients waiting for beds at Irish hospitals today.

University Hospital Limerick remains by far the busiest in the country, with 101 patients on trolleys there this morning, while Galway University Hospital was the second busiest, with 68 admitted patients waiting for beds.

The INMO says staffing shortages are continuing to compromise the provision of safe and timely care across the public health service.
