The number of Ukrainian refugees living in Clare has dropped by over 2,000 in the last year.
The latest figures show the 40% drop means it’s the lowest number of Ukrainians recorded in the county since October 2022.
Data from Clare County Council shows a total of 3,102 Ukrainian Beneficiaries of Temporary Protection, or BOTPs, were living in Clare at the start of December.
This indicates a decrease of 97 people in a month and 2,040 in a year.
This 40% year-on-year reduction means Clare has recorded its lowest number of Ukrainian refugees since October of 2022 when roughly 2,900 were residing in the county.
Of those living in Clare at the start of December, 905 were spread across 18 multi-occupancy facilities such as hotels and B&Bs.
A total of 458 meanwhile have been accommodated in residential settings in formal hosted arrangements through the Irish Red Cross and the local authority’s Offer-a-Home scheme as well as other private arrangements.
