North Clare Businesswoman Claims Drop Off In Coach Tours Was Predictable

A North Clare businesswoman doesn’t believe a drop off in coach tours will have a major impact on the county’s tourism industry.

Unpublished Fáilte Ireland figures show there were 293,000 bus tourists recorded in this country in 2017, a drop of 3,000 on the previous year.

Concerns have been expressed over the impact of the decline in trade on the tourism and hospitality sector, with many in the industry blaming a lack of parking facilities, restrictions to drivers hours and rising hotel rates.

Kilfenora businesswoman Orla Vaughan believes a significant boost in coach tours following the launch of the Wild Atlantic Way, meant this decline was predictable.
