No New Taxes For Clare Drivers

The Transport Minister has vowed not to levy additional charges on Clare drivers.

According to a report in today’s Irish Independent, Leo Varadkar has  ruled out imposing new taxes and tolls on motorists during his term of office.

In 2011, a report by the National Roads Authority called for eight tolls to be installed across the country, including on the Ennis bypass, in order to raise 62 million euro but the suggestion was criticised by a number of local representatives.

The Minister has suggested that multi-point tolling could be put in place on Dublin’s M50, where a series of tolls would bee installed to discourage its use for short trips.
